LASIK Eligibility Evaluation

LASIK Eligibility Evaluation

Do you suffer from nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism? Do you find glasses or contacts cumbersome or uncomfortable, and wish you could reduce their prescription or discard them?

If you answered “YES” to either of these questions, you may be a good candidate for LASIK or other vision corrective surgery. Before the decision can be made however, you must have an eligibility exam and consultation. The doctor will ask questions about your medical history and give a thorough eye exam designed to determine if the procedure is appropriate for your individual case. The doctor will also talk about the benefits, risks, available options, and preparation and recovery associated with the surgery to ensure that your goals and expectations are realistic.

If you have been wearing contacts and/or glasses for years and want a more permanent solution, then you may be a candidate for LASIK. LASIK is one of our most popular and frequently performed types of vision corrective surgery. It can correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and even astigmatism (which contacts and glasses cannot do). If your prescription for glasses or contacts has remained constant for a few years, then you are an even more promising candidate for LASIK, since eyes can change over time and we want your LASIK results to be as permanent as possible.

Contact us for a LASIK eligibility evaluation and we will discuss the benefits of LASIK as well as risks and other potential option for vision corrective surgery. You cannot receive this surgery unless you complete an exam from an eye doctor. Our New York City office can provide the exam and consultation and approve you for this procedure if it’s appropriate for you. We will also discuss your medical history and determine if this procedure is compatible with your health and lifestyle.

If you are approved, we will answer your questions about preparing for the surgery and recovery, as well as your expectations for results. LASIK results can vary for each person in the completeness of the vision correction and the longevity of the results, so please contact us for a personalized evaluation. We look forward to helping you achieve comfortable and clear vision!
